Happy Independence Day!
Happy 4th of July! As you begin this Independence Day, might you spend some time with these scriptures which remind us what freedom in God means and in a prayer created for this day.
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord" (Isaiah 61:1-2).
"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Corinthians 3:17).
"'If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free'" (John 8:31-32).
"'So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed'" (John 8:36).
"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery" (Galatians 5:1)
"For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men. Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God" (1 Peter 2:15-16).
"So I will keep Your law continually, forever and ever. And I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts" (Psalm 119:44-45).
"For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline" (2 Timothy 1:7).
